Our culture is your story - Sam Lawson

Eighteen months ago, after a check up at the opticians I was sent immediately to Manchester Eye Hospital to discuss detached retina surgery and treatment with a team of consultants. It was definitely not what I was expecting!

Three eye surgeries later, the support I have received from AG has been amazing. The firm has been so good throughout the process. I had access to private medical insurance, the time I needed for recovery and appointments along with a carefully phased plan to help me return to work. I could not have asked for anything more.

The concern and kindness I have received from AG has been unmatched, from regular check in calls with my line manager to the flowers and cards I have received from the Finance team. The PA team has also been brilliant, their messages and memes have kept me smiling throughout a difficult time.

I am currently working from home until my eye is fully recovered. Having this option allows me to get back to my team and back to doing what I love. I have made a conscious effort to make it work, not just for me but for everyone I support as a PA along with the wider PA team. So far so good (I hope!).

Looking back at the last couple of years, it has been the personal support that has been the most amazing part of my recovery. The number of messages I received before and after my surgeries made me appreciate my colleagues and constantly reminded me why I value this firm so much.

I have experienced many changes during my career. I originally joined Addleshaw Sons & Latham, since that time we have had three mergers and a number of social and technological revolutions (I can still remember using an electric typewriter in the office).

I am looking forward to seeing my colleagues and friends in person again when my recovery is complete.
