Handback to the Future
Our Handback to the Future series returns in February 2025!
Our Handback to the Future series returns in February 2025!
For the next instalment in our long running programme, we are delighted to be bringing our next event back to Scotland. Since our last session in Edinburgh in November 2023, there has been significant evolution in the approach to handback and expiry with a handful of projects now successfully handed back and many more in the process. As the landscape shifts, we are excited to invite you to a join our interactive and engaging session focused on direct experiences of handback across the UK.
We are delighted to announce that we will be joined by a representative from the Scottish Prison Service to tell us about the successful handback of Kilmarnock Prison in March 2024, and from the Scottish Futures Trust for an update on handback support available to Scottish public sector bodies.
We will share our firsthand experience having advised the public sector on one of the first health sector handbacks to have completed successfully in England and will be joined by Jim McCallum and Dugald Glasgow from Walker Healthcare for Project Co giving a private sector perspective. We will also discuss the move to standardisation of handback documentation in England and establishing industry norms.
What can we learn from recent PFI Court cases, including Consort Healthcare (Tameside) Plc -v- Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, the first restructuring plan proposed in relation to a PFI Project? Our lead partner who acted for the Trust will explain the impact this could have on the wider market. We will also take you through some practical tips from a PFI disputes perspective, to ensure that you are well-placed to resolve contentious points as part of a commercial negotiation – and avoid them becoming the main event.
This informal format continues to build on the development of our wider Handback PFI community so please come along ready to engage.
Limited spaces are available, so please do sign up today!
Registration from 13.30, with the event to start from 14.00 and to be followed by drinks and canapes from 17.30.
