In this edition, we discuss the recent developments in relation to the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) Credit Information Market Study intervention and an update on the FCA's recent review of Consumer Duty Outcomes Monitoring across the insurance industry. We also share our insights on the current state of Green Home Finance and the possible next steps for the Government to support the development of the Green Home Finance market.

The recent developments in relation to the FCA's Credit Information Market Study intervention

In December 2023 the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) published the final report in its Credit Information Market Study (CIMS).  In the report, the FCA sets out the direction of travel in delivering a set of remedies to ensure the high quality of credit information for UK consumers with a view to improving financial inclusion and enabling better-informed lending decisions. In this issue we provide an update on what the FCA has been doing since the publication of its final report to drive its proposed remedies forward and the possible next steps in its intervention.

An update on the FCA's recent review of Consumer Duty Outcomes Monitoring across the insurance industry

On 26 June 2024, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) published key findings from its December 2023 multi-firm review of larger insurance firms' approaches to outcomes monitoring under the Consumer Duty. While the review relates to insurers, insurance intermediaries and outsourced service providers operating within the insurance sector, the FCA has stressed that all retail financial services firms in other sectors should also consider these findings.
