I will be using this blog to share insight and knowledge into all of the elements required to manage and lead a modern in-house legal function.

As Head of Addleshaw Goddard's Client Development Centre (CDC) I have the pleasure of working with many General Counsel and senior heads of legal. Drawing from conversations with these individuals and their teams, the CDC has built up a unique understanding of life as an in-house lawyer, which I am keen to share.

Over the last 15 years I have witnessed first hand the events that have led to a period of unprecedented change for in-house legal teams and their relationships with external providers. In the CDC we are excited about the opportunities and new ways of working that are opening up. The CDC team are doing everything we can to develop innovative solutions in response to clients' most pressing needs, including developing a new range of diagnostic and analytical services such as legal spend analytics and legal risk management.

On my blog I will be drawing from my work coaching senior executives and lawyers on organisational change, personal development and strategy, as well as my doctoral research into leadership within professional services. I will also be inviting a number of others who work with the CDC to share their experiences and insights.

We'll be posting on everything that relates to leading and managing an in-house legal function. We'll share good ideas that are easy to implement and practical advice on topics including understanding and delivering value, legal project management, risk management, talent management and reporting.
