As investment and transactional activity in the energy market continues to move swiftly, Addleshaw Goddard has announced its ambitious growth plans to significantly enhance its energy, power and infrastructure practice.

To help in achieving its ambitions, AG has announced the hire of Rory Connor, who joins from King & Spalding as partner, in the firm's London office. With a focus exclusively on the energy sector, Rory's expertise covers project development, construction, financing and M&A both in the UK and internationally.

A power-house in the international energy sector and with experience covering power generation and renewable energies, from nuclear and gas, to solar, biomass, wind and offshore marine, Rory's hire will enhance AG's current offering which spans the UK, GCC, Africa and Asia, whilst providing not only broader coverage and know-how, but also new ideas and innovative ways of working.

Richard Goodfellow, Partner and Head of the Infrastructure, Projects & Energy Group stated:"Infrastructure is a global market. A lot of the transactional activity in that market is based on UK norms, financed through the City and governed by English law which creates demand in this growth market for law firms, like ours, with strong English law capabilities and the knowledge and experience required to thrive in this space. Rory's hire is a vital strand of our growth plan and will allow us to enhance and build our capability.

Rory advises on high-value, international energy / project finance mandates and his portfolio of work covers most energy sub-sectors, including hydropower, conventional power, nuclear power, renewables and oil and gas, particularly in emerging markets.

Rory Connor stated: "AG is the perfect fit for me and my practice. The firm has a full-service international platform anchored in London and the UK, with renowned sector practices for both power and oil and gas and deep pools of expertise in the constituent parts of my practice. The firm has exciting growth plans for the coming months and years and I am truly excited to be part of that.

Richard Goodfellow concluded: "Rory has a rapidly growing reputation as a leading practitioner in the market and the knowledge to exploit markets we as a firm want to exploit. His experience will enhance our strong practice and provide additional band-width in this strategic growth area."

Addleshaw Goddard's energy credentials continue to be illustrated by its rapidly growing and high quality client base which includes the Big Six energy companies, alongside leading corporate & FTSE clients. Rory's hire follows on from the appointment of David McEwing from Pinsents whose hire bolstered the firm's oil & gas sector team.
