Addleshaw Goddard has boosted its asset finance team with the addition of Simon Gwynne and the promotion of Lizzie Wareing.

Simon Gwynne joins from Norton Rose Fulbright. Deeply experienced, his asset finance practice, which is both domestic and international, covers a broad range of asset classes but he has a particular focus on the transport sector and is tier 1 ranked in that context. The synergies with AG's transport sector team are clear.

Newly promoted asset finance partner, Lizzie Wareing, focuses in particular on debt (rather than leasing) structures, tracking the increasing trend for debt based structures in asset finance – a sector that goes from strength to strength. Activity in the sector is bolstered both by transition driven by corporate net zero carbon strategies and the structural changes in the transport sector, particularly as the rail sector undergoes significant structural change.

These additions continue the recent growth trajectory of the AG finance practice. Lizzie is one of 4 newly promoted finance partners and Simon's recruitment will take the tally of new finance partners since April 2020 to 15, representing enormous investment and reflecting a confident growth trajectory.

Simon and Lizzie will work with head of asset finance, Andrew Maskill, who said: "Whether lessors and lenders or lessees and borrowers, our clients are experiencing transition driven by market changes including  both an ESG and net zero carbon focus and major structural changes in the transport sector. Simon's arrival and Lizzie's promotion better enable us to support clients in that transition, both domestically and internationally. I'm delighted that we are able to make this step change in our asset finance practice."
