AG has advised Red Sea Gateway Terminal International (RSGT) on the successful negotiation of a 22-year concession agreement to equip, operate and maintain the Patenga Container Terminal in Bangladesh
International law firm Addleshaw Goddard has advised RSGT (the operator of the largest marine terminal in Saudi Arabia) on the successful execution of a 22-year concession agreement with the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) for the equipping, operation and maintenance of a US$ 240 million port terminal in Chittagong, Bangladesh (the Patenga Container Terminal).
The Patenga Container Terminal is the first privatised port terminal in Bangladesh, and represents a critical step in bringing competition into the port sector in Bangladesh. The Patenga Container Terminal is the deepest terminal at the Chittagong Port and, once fully operational, will have an annual capacity of 500,000 TEU.
RSGT's investment in the Patenga Container Terminal is its first international investment and is a significant milestone in RSGT's plan to become a leading global port operator.
Gagan Seksaria (Director, Global Investments) said:
"This investment marks a pivotal moment for RSGT, as we expand our operations globally. We believe that we can bring our experience of operating our world-class Jeddah terminal to bear in Bangladesh to deliver a transformative project for the people of Bangladesh and for the benefit of our customers."
The AG team advising RSGT was led by Partner Ian Le Pelley and supported by Managing Associate Tom Wheatley and Associate Katie Bush.
