Addleshaw Goddard (AG) has appointed John Cleaveley as a Partner within its Construction & Engineering team.

Joining the firm from Shoosmiths where he acted as its Manchester office's Head of Construction & Engineering, John has over 30 years in the legal industry, which includes positions at Weightmans and Lendlease Construction.

His practice has primarily focused on advising developers, contractors and specialist sub-contractors on contentious and non-contentious projects, with particular experience within the Living sector, (including build-to-rent, student accommodation, affordable housing, hotels and retirement housing), commercial developments, mixed-use schemes and infrastructure.

John's appointment follows that of Caroline Pope who joined the firm's Construction & Engineering team from DLA Piper in October. John's appointment is the seventh lateral partner hire across AG's Real Estate group this year (Clarissa Smith, Catherine Williams, Anthony Willis, Francis Tyrell, Sarah Atkinson, Caroline Pope and John Cleaveley).
