Addleshaw Goddard Strengthens Market-Leading Private Funds Team with Appointment to Partnership of Ben Cocoracchio
Ben joins Addleshaw Goddard from Osborne Clarke where he had a focus on venture capital, private equity, debt and real estate, advising established and emerging fund managers on setting up funds in the UK, Channel Islands, Luxembourg and other jurisdictions.
Ben also advises institutional and family office investors on their investments into private funds. He brings with him significant experience gained in private practice and in-house, having previously served as senior legal counsel at international real assets fund manager Nuveen.
At AG, Ben joins an international team of 30+ lawyers across different disciplines, including fund formation, tax, fund finance and regulation, and operating across AG's offices in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
His appointment is the latest of a number of partner hires in financial services and private funds, including the appointment of Philip Dowsett to lead the MENA funds practice in Dubai and the hires of asset management regulatory experts Marco Zingler in Frankfurt, Jeanne-Marie Moriarty in Dublin and Lisa Lee Lewis in London.
Earlier this year, AG's private funds team was voted "Fund Structuring Law Firm of the Year" at the Private Equity Wire Awards 2023 and a winner in the "Legal, Compliance & Regulatory" category at the Drawdown Awards 2023.
Jan Gruter, Partner and Private Funds Team Lead in the UK said:
"Ben is a highly experienced private funds lawyer and we are excited to welcome him to our growing team. The addition of Ben comes at a time of increasing demand for our private fund specialists from our PE, real estate and VC clients and investors and we look forward to the continued growth and development of the team."
David Kirchin, Divisional Managing Partner for Corporate and Commercial said:
"Our private funds practice has built real momentum over the last few years, establishing itself as a go to team for successful mid-market and emerging fund managers and investors. We have an appetite to grow further in this exciting market and Ben's appointment is a key part of that."
Ben Cocoracchio, Partner at Addleshaw Goddard added:
"I am excited to be joining Addleshaw Goddard at such a dynamic time for the private funds team, particularly given the firm's recent international expansion into Ireland, Luxembourg and its continued growth in the Middle-East and Asia. I am confident that my experience in private funds formation and structuring, alongside advising investors, will strongly support the firm's drive to grow and develop its sponsor and investor client base both in the UK and internationally."
