Addleshaw Goddard wins place on Cadent's legal panel
International law firm Addleshaw Goddard has won a place on Cadent's legal panel for the first time.
Following its separation from National Grid seven years ago, Cadent is the UK's largest gas distribution company, appointing Addleshaw Goddard to the general services lot, as well as the company’s specialist regulatory panel.
The Addleshaw Goddard team involved in the tender process, carried out under the Utilities Contract Regulations, was led by Partners Sara Gilmore and David Shaw. The panel will run for four years, with the potential to extend for eight years.
Sara Gilmore said: "We are excited to be working with Cadent and this appointment is recognition of the development of our expertise in this sector, the growth of our team and our experience in all aspects of down and midstream energy and the supply chain. We look forward to working closely with Cadent to help it achieve its goals over the next few years in what is an unprecedented time of change for the energy and utilities sectors."
Diane Bennett, General Counsel and Company Secretary, added: “We are delighted to have appointed a new legal panel for Cadent. We will look to those firms to work with our in-house legal team to support our business as we head towards and into the next regulatory price control period and progress our net zero ambitions.”
Cadent supplies 11 million homes and businesses throughout the North West, West Midlands, East Midlands, South Yorkshire, East of England and North London.
Addleshaw Goddard's international Energy & Utilities Group has extensive experience in advising gas distribution companies and already counts SGN among its clients.
