Addleshaw Goddard strengthens real estate and construction law practice with partner Katharina Feddersen

Addleshaw Goddard continues to expand its service offering in Germany: Partner Katharina Feddersen strengthens the real estate and construction law practice in Hamburg at the end of October 2024.

Katharina Feddersen advises on all aspects of construction and architects’ law for over 20 years. Project developers, builders, real estate companies and banks trust her with their major real estate projects.

Her practice focuses on construction project development as well as providing legal advice during the construction of lengthy and complex building projects in the centre of major German cities. She also advises on international projects and construction projects as well as on disputes in construction law. In addition, she supports clients from the real estate industry in the transformation with a focus on the digitization of construction contracts, the decarbonization of buildings and the development of sustainable infrastructure and smart cities.

She is a specialist lawyer for building and architectural law and a member of the Legal Working Group of the Zentraler Immobilienausschuss ZIA. Katharina Feddersen joins from Osborne Clarke, where she worked as a partner for over 11 years and was instrumental in growing the Hamburg office.

Dr. Michael Leue, Addleshaw Goddard’s Head of Germany, comments:

"Addleshaw Goddard stands for future-oriented, premium-quality legal advice as well as close interdisciplinary and international cooperation. We are pleased to continue the strategic expansion of our practice with Katharina Feddersen. In energy projects, building law requirements play a significant role and, conversely, energy law aspects are becoming increasingly pronounced in construction projects and real estate transactions. With her in-depth sector expertise, we can better meet our clients’ increasing demand for legal advice, especially at the interface between real estate and construction law as well as energy law. We warmly welcome her to our team!"

"Large-scale construction projects, which often require many years of planning and construction time, operate in a field of tension between often conflicting legal, economic and political requirements and present our clients with complex challenges. The cornerstone for the sustainable success of their projects is comprehensive 360-degree advice with in-depth knowledge of local and global markets and first-class service. Addleshaw Goddard offers the perfect platform," says Katharina Feddersen. "I am looking forward to being part of the real estate and construction law team and to working with all my colleagues."

Addleshaw Goddard's international real estate practice has offices in Europe, the Middle East and Asia and is one of the largest sector groups in the market. The German team around partner Kristina Baurschmidt, counsel Christopher Grawe and managing associate Dr. Natalia Kreuzer advises on the entire life cycle of a property. In cross-border projects and complex transactions, clients benefit from the team's interdisciplinary set-up and in-depth industry knowledge.

The German practice has grown sustainably in recent years. Since entering the German market in 2019, Addleshaw Goddard has continued to expand into markets, industries and areas of law that are important to clients to offer an even more comprehensive full service in the region. Most recently, an 8-member energy and regulatory team led by partners Dr. Boris Scholtka, Dr. Laurenz Keller-Herder and Eric Glattfeld as well as corporate/M&A partners Dr. Nina Leonard and Christian Lang joined the firm. Further growth in Germany is expected.
