Addleshaw Goddard advises New Forests on USD 300 million Singapore-domiciled natural capital fund in partnership with Oji Holdings
Addleshaw Goddard’s Private Funds team has advised international natural capital fund manager New Forests on the establishment of the Future Forest Innovations Fund, a pioneering evergreen natural capital fund domiciled in Singapore. The fund has been launched in partnership with Oji Holdings, one of the world’s leading paper and packaging manufacturers, and will support the company in delivering on its 2030 environmental targets.
Structured as a Singapore Variable Capital Company (VCC), the Future Forest Innovations Fund has an initial size of approximately USD 300 million and is designed to be able to accept further investment from institutional investors. The fund will invest in sustainable forestry assets across Southeast Asia, North America, Latin America, and Africa, initially targeting net sequestration of 1.5 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent annually by 2030.
The transaction highlights Addleshaw Goddard’s capabilities in advising on complex, cross-border natural capital strategies – a rapidly expanding area of interest for both institutional investors and corporates seeking to advance their net zero ambitions.
