EXPERTISE

Victoire joined AG's Competition & Regulatory Team as a Senior Knowledge Lawyer in September 2022. After qualifying in 2012, Victoire spent the following decade gaining competition and regulatory law experience in three different environments:

  • as an EU & Competition solicitor at Ashurst LLP, where highlights included acting for Imperial Tobacco in their successful UK Tobacco Appeal against the OFT and advising clients involved in market investigations and multi-jurisdictional acquisitions;
  • as an in-house competition and payments regulation American Express, where she engaged in UK and EU lobbying at legislative stage and provided advice to the business on complying with the EU Interchange Fees Regulation and Payment Services Directive II ahead of their coming into force; and
  • as a competition and regulatory lawyer for UK communications regulator Ofcom, where she defended regulatory decisions (including the Royal Mail v Ofcom Appeal which was dismissed in its entirety) and drafted legislation in liaison with Government departments (Telecoms Security Act 2021), while providing competition and public law advice on consultations in a variety of communications sectors.

Victoire now puts this variety of experience to good use in her knowledge role at AG, where she is responsible for training, updating, and acting as a sounding board for knotty issues encountered by, all lawyers in the Competition & Regulatory Team. She also regularly contributes client current awareness updates on legislative, case law and practice changes.
