Niamh specialises in restructuring, insolvency and commercial litigation. She frequently advises Irish and international insolvency practitioners (liquidators, receivers, examiners, administrators and trustees), financial institutions, investors, creditors directors and shareholders and insolvency practitioners in a range of disputes, restructuring or business termination events. 

Experience

Recent significant work includes advising:

  • Interpath Ireland as receivers in the defence of injunction proceedings issued by former directors and shareholders of borrower entities. 
  • Trustees of the Opioid Master Distribution trust in the US Chapter 11 and related examinership proceedings of Mallinckrodt plc in 2023.
  • M & G Investments as senior lender on its enforcement against Ronan Group Real Estate and acting for Grant Thornton as receivers who were subsequently appointed to the property portfolio valued in the region of €300m.
  • PwC as receiver of development lands and as plaintiff in Commercial Court proceedings relating to the interference in the disposal of those lands by the borrower.
  • Ballantyne Re plc, an Irish reinsurance SPV, on an Irish law scheme of arrangement to restructure US$1.65bn of New York law governed notes.
