Paul works with a number of developers, landowners, occupiers and investors across all aspects of commercial real estate.

He returned to private practice in 2014 after 8 years as legal counsel with a property development and investment group with a UK wide multi-sector portfolio, where he worked closely with project and management teams, funders and other consultants.

Experience

Recent experience includes advising:

  • an investment fund on its acquisition of nearly 3,700 acres in the Highlands, for an unparalleled reforestation and decarbonisation project accommodating the planting of over 2,000 acres of native trees and regeneration of peatlands, including advising on Forestry Grant Scheme, Woodland Carbon Code and other project documentation 
  • owners and developers on long term strategic land opportunities including negotiating complex promotion and option agreements and navigating a way through the diverse interests of local authorities, government agencies, banks, adjacent landowners, utility providers and end-users
  • one of the UK's largest family-owned construction, infrastructure and support service businesses on the regeneration of a key city centre site alongside a local authority and university, to deliver a business enterprise hub, affordable housing, retail space and public realm, all as part of the city centre masterplan
  • global hotel and serviced apartment operators on the management of their Scottish estates and new openings, ranging from the repurposing and development of Victorian buildings, matching the occupational requirements of a company which operates in 40 markets with the expectations of a Scottish developer/landlord, to a forward funded redevelopment of 2 Georgian townhouses to meet stringent brand requirements and incorporate complex FF&E procurement arrangements
  • electric vehicle charging operators on the rapid expansion of their networks to deliver electric vehicle charging hubs and other charging solutions across the UK
