Carlos is a partner and head of the employment team at Addleshaw Goddard's Madrid office. A lawyer with over 25 years of experience, Carlos' expertise includes both contentious and non-contentious aspects of employment and social security law. He provides general strategic advice on all types of human resources matters and has broad experience in employment litigation.

Carlos has a top-notch track record advising on all aspects of employment law focused on top management advice, including company benefits and remuneration plans; top executives’ employment relationships; termination arrangements; restrictive covenants, and corporate transactions.

With unapparelled credentials in the private equity sector, over the last 20 years, Carlos has been advising the top private equity firms in Spain on employment matters. His clients include, among others, Portobello Capital, Magnum Industrial Partners, Asterion Industrial Partners and MCH Private Equity.

Carlos is a Lecturing Professor of Employment Law since 1996 at the university Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE), lecturing (i) Employment and Social Security Law and (ii) Top Management employment relationships. 

In addition to the investment funds sector, Carlos’ expertise also covers other economic areas such as financial services, professional services, industrial sector, education, energy, sports and infrastructure. Some examples of these clients are, EDP Group, Galp, PageGroup, Merit Automotive Systems, Aciturri Aeronáutica, Alestis Aeroespacial and Inapa.

  • Over the last 17 year, advising Page Group on the full spectrum of its labour matters in Spain, including litigation proceedings, implementation of its remote-work policies, employment contracts, social security matters and labour inspections.
  • Since 2014, advising Valencia Club de Fútbol on all its employment matters, including contracts and termination of members of the technical team and football players; restructuring of the board of directors; employment litigation, labour inspections; Social Security Law; preparation of the employment equity plan; and negotiation of the company’s collective bargaining agreement.
  • Advice to EDP Energía de Portugal and EDP Renováveis on several labour matters such as senior executive employment contracts, dismissals, labour inspections, and negotiating collective bargaining agreements. Advice also on the employment related matters arising from its investments and divestments in the Spanish energy sector
  • Legal advice to several top private equity firms in Spain on the design and implementation of the remuneration policy of its top senior managers and executives. 
  • Advice to the Portuguese group Sonae on the employment issues related with several acquisitions on the retail sector in Spain.
