Casper is an associate in the construction, engineering and environment team specialising in avoiding and resolving disputes. Casper has acted in TCC proceedings, adjudications, mediations and in the pre-action stages of disputes for clients including developers, universities, utilities companies and landlords. 

Casper has also previously worked as Legal Counsel to a Fortune 500 multinational infrastructure consultancy, working across a broad range of construction and commercial matters including negotiating large contracts (primarily on the NEC suite) as well as supporting the business with risk management advice in relation to payment, variations, defects, extensions of time, etc.

Experience
  • Acting for a hotel developer defending a multimillion-pound claim in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC) relating to disputed variations, delay and loss and expense claims. 
  • Acting for an aerospace manufacturer in a large claim against a main contractor in the TCC relating to multiple defects in the design and construction of an advanced manufacturing facility. 
  • Acting across multiple adjudications (both as referring party and responding party) for an energy company in relation to a protracted dispute in respect of a gas pipeline. The dispute concerned the resolution of a multimillion-pound compensation event account under an NEC contract. 
  • Risk management advice given in relation to the design of a high-profile rail project, primarily in relation to a contentious compensation event account under an NEC contract (and the time and money implications of the same).
  • Advising a developer in relation to fire-safety issues across multiple buildings.  
  • Advising a developer in relation to a defective road in a claim against a professional engineer.
