Kirsten is an Associate in the Manchester Commercial Litigation team, having qualified into the team in March 2020 after completing her training contract with the firm.
Kirsten is part of our intellectual property practice and has experience in advising a range of clients across a number of sectors on a variety of IP disputes. Her experience includes advising on both sides of copyright, database right, design right and trade mark infringement claims. Kirsten also has experience of disputes relating to the misuse of confidential information, including applications for urgent injunctive relief.
Aside from this, Kirsten has a broad range of commercial disputes experience.
In July 2024, Kirsten successfully obtained her Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from the University of Oxford.
Examples of work that Kirsten has assisted with are set out below:
- Advising clients across a range of sectors, in particular major supermarkets and fashion retailers, to bring and defend intellectual property infringement claims relating to a range of IPRs including trade marks, passing off, copyright, design rights and domain name rights.
- Acting for Royal Mail Group Limited on its claim for copyright infringement and database right infringement against Codeberry Limited and its director, Lee Paul Smith.
- Kirsten has a keen interest in digital assets / the metaverse and has advised clients on claims involving digital assets / NFT projects, including advising a media company on a fraudulent misrepresentation claim and a retailer on rug pulling allegations.
- Advising clients on breach of warranty and civil fraud claims, including fraudulent misrepresentation and unlawful means conspiracy, in the context of share purchase disputes. Kirsten also has experience of managing investigations and advising on strategy.
- Acting for clients where confidential information has been stolen and a competing business is set up in unlawful competition, including obtaining urgent injunctive relief.
