David has over a decade of experience  supporting clients with their strategic and sensitive people issues. David has advised on various complex cross-border transactions, restructurings and outsourcings. He has extensive experience defending numerous employment tribunal claims and has succeeded in appeal hearings in the Employment Appeal Tribunal and the appellate courts.

David was the 'IFLR Rising Star for Labour and Employment - EMEA 2022'

As a regular commentator on employment law matters, David has contributed to various chapters of Xpert HR's Employment Law Manual (including key chapters on financial services) and is the author of Bloomsbury's Termination of Employment, chapters E4 (TUPE) and B1 (Dismissal with or without notice.

David is an active member of the Employment Lawyers Association and sits as a member of the Pastoral Care Committee. He has been a working party member for various ELA activities including its input towards the Taylor Review of Modern Working Practices.

David’s experience includes advising:

  • Westinghouse Electric Company in its chapter 11 restructuring and sale to Brookfield Business Partners LP.
  • Post Office Limited in respect of the postmaster 'worker status' litigation (one of the Lawyer's 'Top 20 Cases of 2021').
  • A large supermarket chain in respect of class action style equal pay claims.
  • Various financial services clients on whistleblowing investigations and claims.
  • Gleneagles Hotel in respect of the successful defence of an appeal to the Employment Appeal Tribunal.
