Our Energy for Business team has helped numerous businesses over the last 25 years across all sectors to navigate their way from exploration to implementation of various measures and schemes to tackle energy issues, from cost neutral solutions to collaborative working between landlords and tenants. We have a growing presence on the ground in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, with UK offices in London and throughout our network of offices throughout England (Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester etc).

  • Are you thinking about how to cut your carbon emissions?
  • Do you know how you can reduce energy consumption, generate your own energy and take more control of energy costs?

To help you explore the possibilities we have created our Energy Ready interactive tool.

The right energy solutions for businesses

Rooftop Solar Icon

Rooftop Solar

We advised a vehicle manufacturer on a project with rooftop solar, a battery, and Europe's largest solar carport to meet most of the plant's energy needs. Operating less than 7 days a week, surplus energy was exported to the grid, generating revenue, and promoting renewable energy use in manufacturing.

Green Power Contracts Icon

Green Power Contracts

We guided a major UK rail network operator, a significant electricity consumer, on a 'physical sleeved' Corporate PPA with a household energy firm. The solar farm supplies all electricity and certificates across the GB grid, diversifying the customer's green power without multiple direct connections. This contributes new renewable power to the UK's mix efficiently.

Electric Vehicles and Charging Icon

We devised commercial arrangements between chargepoint operators (CPOs) and customers for destination charging, fleet operations, garage forecourts.  These include funded solutions enabling customers to upgrade grid connections and deploy chargers at their sites (e.g. car parks, hotels, retail parks, supermarkets) without funding initial capital investment or ongoing operational costs.

Battery Storage Icon

Battery Storage

We assisted in creating a top-tier rooftop solar and battery system for a major warehouse operator at its distribution centres. The operator cut emissions across its portfolio with rooftop solar. Additionally, the batteries provided a chance to sell power back to the grid during peak demand, generating extra income.

Energy Centres & Heat Networks Icon

Energy Centres & Heat Networks

We advised an energy centre setup in a car park, delivering power, heat, and cooling to residential towers, hotels, commercial spaces, retail, offices, and TV studios. Ensuring 24/7 availability for TV studios, we collaborated with the developer. Additionally, we advised on upgrading an existing heat network, ensuring resilience for buildings (including PRS), and securing long-term rights with appropriate step-in rights for all connections.

Wind Icon

We advised a retailer in partnering with a renewables developer to pinpoint distribution sites for onsite wind turbines. The developer leased sites, installed turbines, and supplied power to depots, with the option to sell excess energy to the grid.

Solar Farms Icon

Solar Farms

We advised an institutional landlord on collaborating with an occupier to strengthen a distribution warehouse roof and install rooftop and ground-mounted solar. The landlord financed it through a lease regear, creating a more valuable and sustainable investment. The tenant gained a cost-effective and resilient energy supply.

Energy Efficiency Icon

Energy Efficiency

We advised the developer of a net zero government hub building, institutionally forward funded, designed and constructed to harness the latest technologies to achieve the Design of Performance NABERS rating of 5.5* which was a fundamental requirement of both occupier and funder.

Combined Heat and Power Plant Icon

Combined Heat and Power Plant

We guided a data centre operator in installing a CHP plant, supplying power and utilising chillers for hall cooling. This funded solution involved the operator paying for supplies, ensuring continuous, safe data centre operation with robust availability and efficiency measures in place.

Heat Pumps Icon

Heat Pumps

We advised on the replacement of boilers with heat pumps throughout a housing association's portfolio. The pumps were funded through grant monies but the installation required lender consent and safeguards around the operation of the heat pumps to replace the heat pumps in the properties if there was a failure.

Hydrogen Icon

Hydrogen

We are supporting SGN on its ground breaking H100 project where SGN is using offshore wind power to create hydrogen and supply it to 300 homes in Fife as part of its H100 Fife project for the world-first hydrogen to homes heating network.

Waste to Energy Icon

Waste to Energy

We guided an infrastructure fund on clinical waste treatment facility development, including land assembly, EPC and feedstock contracts. A development agreement identified suitable sites for similar facilities across Great Britain, enabling replication of the successful approach taken on the initial site.
